Can’t find enough Labour? See our solution.

Igneous Works (GT) Managing Director, Matthew Bird explains how they are able to deliver more completed work, with zero defects, with less labour and also limit the number of required trades.

“The first step is to reduce the amount of work to be done. It sounds ridiculously simple and obvious but by adopting the right approach and using innovative materials much of what is already in situ can be re-used.”

Matthew goes on to say,

“Our practices and environmental approach mean that we minimise the amount of ripping out and throwing away that takes place within most traditional kitchen and bathroom installations. Not only does this reduce waste and the need for expensive repairs and making good, but it means the scope of the work is substantially reduced, resulting in fewer trades onsite and the need for co-ordination”.

Igneous Works (GT) approach of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (their surfaces are made from recycled materials) are principles well-grounded in the best environmental practices. Their innovative approach and methods are not only helping their client partners to refurbish homes quickly and minimising disruption but also helping their partners to achieve their strict environmental goals as we move the country to net-zero.

One of the main reasons for the high levels of workmanship and zero defects success is that Igneous Works (GT) further reduces the amount of onsite time by pre-fabricating much of its work. Managing Director Matthew Bird explains,

“By pre-fabricating much of the work we are able to precision make our worktops, backsplashes, shower panels etc. to be millimetre perfect. This is undertaken in a controlled factory environment by expert operatives using specially designed machinery. The fabricated items provide a precise fit over the existing surfaces in place, so the installation process is greatly simplified.”

By reducing the amount of work required, removing the need for multiple trades, and by pre-fabricating the majority of the work, Igneous Works (GT) is able to refurbish kitchens in as little as three days, and bathrooms in a single day.

“I would challenge anyone to tell me the difference between what Igneous Works (GT) do and a complete new kitchen, except maybe that their one is a lot nicer!” Malcolm Saxby, Tricomm
